Focus Earlier today , Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner dropped his latest NFL offensive line rankings of the league’s best units heading into the 2018 season. These rankings are updated from a previous post that ranked the units immediately following the end of last season. It’s not that I was expecting the Chargers’ unit to be a top-10 group or anything like that, but I definitely didn’t expect them to be in the bottom third of the entire league. The Bolts were actually a top team in terms of the least amount of sacks given up while Rivers owned the lowest percentage of being sacked when under pressure. However, it’s not the most surprising thing to see them lower than expected by the fans. We are already gassing up a line that will bring back Forrest Lamp and the addition of Mike Pouncey to replace Spencer Pulley and Kenny Wiggins. Both Pulley and Wiggins rated at the very bottom of their respective positions in pressures allowed. You obviously have nowhere but up to go from there. If you don’t feel like checking out the entire article, here’s what Mr. Renner had to say about the Bolts:Overall Grades From Last Season for Projected StartersLeft Tackle: Russell Okung, 77.4 overall gradeLeft Guard: Dan Feeney, 48.5Center: Mike Pouncey, 46.5Right Guard: Forrest Lamp Youth Tyrell Williams Jersey , 91.7* (2016 college grade)Right Tackle: Joe Barksdale, 50.7“There is a lot of projection here with Dan Feeney and Forrest Lamp in Year 2 as well as Mike Pouncey, but it’s impossible to think things could get worse. Kenny Wiggins allowed the most pressures of any guard in the league last year (41) while Spencer Pulley allowed the most of any center (38). Simply getting those two out of the lineup has to be worth something.”Once training camp gets underway, I expect the line to gel fairly quickly. Bringing in a veteran at center will make that connection with Philip Rivers click faster and I’d expect Lamp to get up to speed fast than your average first-year starter. My hopes are about as high as anyone’s with this unit and I think everyone else shouldn’t worry about getting their hopes up, either. Now excuse me, I’m going splinter my office desk with how hard I’m about to knock on it.Los Angeles Chargers Daily Links: Will Chargers get statement win against Chiefs? Mike Pouncey brings 'energy and nastiness' to Chargers' run game - Eric Williams"He's incredible," Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung said. "His zeal and enthusiasm for the game Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , for our offensive line, it's amazing. I think it's going to do pretty well for us, particularly down the stretch.NFL Preview 2018: The Chargers Ain’t a Lock to Win the AFC West - Nathan Graber-LippermanFrom top to bottom, the Chargers boast one of the most talented rosters in the league. Will it matter? Last year, the team finished seventh in offensive DVOA and twelfth in defensive DVOA鈥nd they still didn’t make the playoffs due to a slew of late-game mishaps and inconsistent play. Heading into 2018, there’s no more excuses for the Bolts, especially with one of the easiest schedules in the leagueThe Top Ten Quarterbacks Heading Into 2018: Number Six - Nathan Graber-LippermanWhat the seven-time Pro Bowler will do is pass for another 4 Youth Brandon Mebane Jersey ,000 yards鈥?#8212;鈥妕he ninth time he has cleared the benchmark in his illustrious career鈥?#8212;鈥奱nd 25+ touchdowns. He’ll top 90 in passer rating and wow in efficiency; in 2017, Rivers trailed only Tom Brady for the highest Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement (or DYAR) in the league.NFL Offseason's Darling Team Can Make Huge Statement In Week 1 - Brent Sobleski"I keep going to the word steady," Rivers said of his approach as he enters his 15th season, per's Eric D. Williams. "Last year was crazy just with the move [from San Diego to Los Angeles] and all of that. I think just from a football standpoint, I just feel in a good mindset and approach. I'm seeing things good, as far as knowing every answer for this, and this and this—and my communication with the guys."What will the Los Angeles Chargers game plan be without Joey Bosa? - Ernie PadaonI think Rochell will have his moments to shine Womens Michael Schofield Jersey , but there are times that he will disappear. I know we like him and believe that he can hold his own, but he isn’t Bosa. Rochell just won’t have the consistency at getting after the quarterback as Bosa would bring. We can’t deny that Bosa is a beast at pressuring offenses and setting up his teammates for success. We have to do some things a little different. How the Chiefs offense will attack the Chargers defense - KP“Often, the Chargers will counter this by altering their Cover 3 assignments by playing Cover 3 cloud/saint. This is essentially like a Cover 2 zone to one side of the field, and a Cover 3 to the other. Basically, a cornerback (a field or boundary corner, depending on the call) will play a flat zone while the apex/nickel corner (or a safety) will drop to the deep third.”Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWade
